As many of you guys may know, I’ve reviewed my fair share of men’s grooming products over the past five years, some of those coming from advanced skin care specialists Jack Black. Shortly before Christmas, I began using Jack Black’s Line Smoother, an intensive anti-ageing moisturiser that promises superb results within four to six weeks. As it has been about six weeks since I began using this product, now is as good a time as any to share with you my opinions, thoughts and results from one of Jack Black’s most popular products.

Approaching 30 and living a fairly hectic lifestyle, as well as doing my very best at trying to raise a little one during every spare minute of my day, it’s not uncommon for my skin to look a bit tired and fatigued from time to time, especially after a few late nights changing nappies! Whilst I crave eight hours sleep a night, in reality, I probably get about five or six, one of the main factors, I believe, in my skin looking a bit dull and jaded over the past 12 months. Needless to say, I drafted in Jack Black’s Line Smoother to give me back a bit of power in the bathroom and here’s how I got on.

My first impressions of the product were great. I love the Jack Black branding and the size is perfectly acceptable, compared to high-end anti-ageing products out there on the men’s skincare market of a similar ilk. The price wasn’t too bad either, especially considering some of the high-grade ingredients that are listed on the products bottle. Line Smoother contains Vitamin E that nourishes and protects the skin, as well as Natural Fruit Acids and Vitamin A, that supposedly combine to minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and skin discoloration. Jack Black also claim that this men’s anti-ageing product effectively sloughs off the top layer of skin from your complexion, which in turn reveals younger and healthier looking skin from beneath. Some of the keys to looking younger are also addressed with this moisturiser promising to enhance texture and firm up the skin, to fight sagging, something which has slowly found itself to my doorstep in recent months.

Although mild, some of the biggest signs of ageing were starting to become visible on my skin. So even at 28, actively guarding against prematurely ageing skin now, was an absolute necessity for me, as it should be for you. When I first started using Line Smoother, I noted that it sunk into my skin nice and quickly and didn’t leave it feeling greasy. It’s an oil-free moisturiser, which I found helped it feel even more lightweight on my skin. It also smelt quite potent too and the strength of the scent made me feel as though my skin was actually getting an intensive treatment with each night time application. Jack Black actually suggest using this overnight, which is what I did, with magnificent results.

Within about 2 weeks, my skin was already starting to look firmer and fresher. The sagging and swollen texture that it used to display completely disappeared and over Christmas, despite eating a ton of terrible food, I didn’t get a single spot or blemish on my skin. My tired looking eyes looked more firm too and the overall condition of my skin looked much smoother. It was actually a pleasure to use this anti-ageing product on an evening basis and an equal pleasure to keep checking out my skin in the mirror. My girlfriend regularly commented on how de-stressed my skin looked and even though I’ve kept application up for the past six weeks or so, the key results for me, happened within about a fortnight.

If you’re an older guy, I’d expect the age reversing process to take a little bit longer with Jack Black’s Line Smoother, especially as skin discoloration takes a little bit of extra time to recover, but I can easily see why gentlemen of any age above 27 would slot this men’s grooming product into their bathroom routine. Overall, I would give this product 9 out of 10. The only minor downside is that it tended to leave my skin looking a little bit dry in the morning, but this could be quickly counteracted with the use of a bit of extra daily moisturiser. I was using this in conjunction with Jack Black’s Double Duty Moisturiser, which also worked a treat!
